Marley Brougham

Marley joined Stockport Homes in 2012 on an apprenticeship with the Customer and Community Engagement Team, studying Business Administration Level 2. In 2013 she gained a permanent position within the team as a Customer and Community Engagement Assistant, supporting the team with a ride range of projects to local community groups.

In 2017 Marley won our ASPIRE ‘Ambition’ Award for her investment in her own development; seeking opportunities to try new areas of work and taking herself out of her comfort zone. Marley took on the work of the Education Officer and organised a hugely successful programme of activities for young people. She attends youth sessions in order to develop her own youth work skills. Partners have described her as having a real talent with young people, praising her ability to engage at all levels. As a result of this, in 2017/18 Marley was given the opportunity to cover a secondment as the Youth Engagement Coordinator for Stockport Homes, delivering workshops to schools to prevent Anti-social Behaviour, homelessness, develop budgeting skills, raise awareness of bullying and hate crime and also to deliver diversionary activities during the school holidays for young people.

“When I first came to Stockport Homes, I had a lot to learn and lacked experience. Stockport Homes gave me the opportunity to work shadow across the company to better my understanding of teams and develop my own learning through the variety of training courses it has to offer. I enjoy working for Stockport Homes, as the company are involved in a variety of different projects for you to get involved in which has allowed me to progress in my job roles. The support and guidance I receive from my team and colleagues define our mission and aims as ‘One Team’”.

Scott Swaby

Three Sixty Commercial Manager

After seven years working in the private sector, Scott joined us in October 2016 as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. Since then his role has evolved and developed, leading to his current position as Commercial Manager for our trading arm, Three Sixty.

Scott is responsible for commercial innovation and improvement, including the development and strategic procurement of key local suppliers and contractors. He takes the commercial lead on all estimating and contract works, maintaining a strong financial control on all projects.

Scott played a pivotal role in driving forward the development of Three Sixty at a crucial time, ensuring that it delivered high quality works and returned a surplus. Scott has taken Three Sixty from strength to strength, from a small number of operatives delivering minimal works to over 60 staff delivering millions of pounds worth of construction works to a very high standard.

Scott went above and beyond what was expected of him, stepping up in order to ensure that Three Sixty was a success. In recognition for his contribution, commitment and dedication, in 2018 Stockport Homes Group nominated him for the 24housing Young Leader Award. Scott made it through to the Top 10 and we are extremely proud of his achievements.

James Thorn

Project Leader

James studied architecture at university, working briefly in private practice before moving to a Local Authority architects office delivering new build Leisure and Commercial Schemes along with Decent Homes Programmes.

In 2009, James joined Stockport Homes as a Project Leader within the Investment Team, having been attracted by our strong reputation within the social housing sector and the opportunity to get involved in large and varied programmes. He was responsible for delivering large capital projects as part of the Decent Homes programme, managing a team across several contracts.

Over the years his architectural and technical background, together with strong project management and team working skills have enabled him to lead on several high-profile projects. A highlight was ‘SHINE’, a project to install Solar PV on the roofs of over 2,000 customers’ homes. The project won several national awards and demonstrated Stockport Homes’ commitment to being at the forefront of the sector.

James has played a key role in the delivery and development of our commercial activity to provide architectural services to schools and care home providers, generating income to support our core services. As this area has grown, James has moved away from the delivery of the capital programme to concentrate on commercial activity. In 2015, his contribution to the organisation earned him a shortlisting for our CEO and People Choice Award. We now employ an Architect to lead the architectural team within Investment.

“I enjoy working for Stockport Homes, particularly the great relationships with my immediate team and the opportunities which arise for working with both different internal services and external clients, delivering projects in the communities in which our core customers live, work or are educated.

The varied work opportunities allow me to draw on my previous experience and develop, gaining new knowledge and skills. Training and Development is excellent, several years ago I became a Charted Architectural Technologist which Stockport Homes supported me with. I have also attended numerous other courses over the years, enabling me to be successful in my role but also of great benefit to me personally.”

Amanda Foley

Sales Manager

“I have been working for Stockport Homes Group for over 13 years and have over 17 years’ experience in housing. I first joined the group in 2007 with a background in estate agency and I have worked within the Investment and Anti-Social behaviour teams before returning to my sales roots in 2015 when I set up the Viaduct sales team on behalf of the group. With the support of the Head of Development and our Assistant Director, I was responsible for the set up and management of the sales process on our affordable and market sale homes. The team’s high performance has allowed the group to expand our programme significantly over the past 6 years, which has resulted in us creating more jobs within the sales team.

I enjoy working for SHG because it is a passionate, energetic, strong and visionary organisation with a CEO who has a relentless focus on the customer journey and staff morale. The senior leadership team encourages a ‘one team’ approach and it really does feel like I am part of the  Stockport Homes family. I have made lifelong friends within the organisation and I feel supported with my professional and personal development. I also love working in Stockport, it’s definitely a property hot spot and the ongoing investment plans in the town centre make it an exciting place to buy for our purchasers.

I am extremely passionate about home ownership and affordable housing, which resulted in our Head of Development putting me forward for a passion award at our staff awards event. My goals for the future are to maintain our high performing sales stats, widen our marketing, further my career at Stockport Homes Group and to help spread the word about shared ownership, so that we can continue to help people gain a foot onto the property ladder.

I truly believe that my team helps to transform customers' lives, as I see first hand the difference that buying a home can have for our purchasers.”
